For a lot of adults, the hardest part about fitness isn’t knowing they should work out.
It’s actually getting started.
Life gets busy.
Work takes over.
Motivation comes and goes.
And eventually, it’s easier to stay home than walk into a gym by yourself.
That was exactly where Gage Landis found himself.
Looking for Structure Again
Gage had worked out before.
He had tried other gyms.
He had even taken group fitness classes.
But something always felt like it was missing.
“I felt more like a dollar sign than someone the instructors actually cared about.”
He didn’t just want another membership.
He wanted accountability.
He wanted coaching.
He wanted a place where someone actually knew his goals.
When he found YSP in November of 2024, he knew the structured group classes were exactly what he had been looking for.
“I like knowing exactly what we’re doing when I walk in. I don’t have to think about creating my own workout.”
Sometimes removing that decision is exactly what people need to stay consistent.
Rebuilding After Injury
Before returning to consistent training, Gage had suffered a devastating knee injury.
He tore his ACL, MCL, and meniscus.
Anyone who’s gone through that kind of injury knows it isn’t just physically difficult.
It affects confidence.
It affects motivation.
It makes you wonder if you’ll ever feel like yourself again.
Instead of accepting that as his new normal, Gage committed to rebuilding.
Since coming back to YSP, he has:
✅ Lost 35 pounds
✅ Become stronger than ever before
✅ Set personal records in every major lift
✅ Continued making tremendous progress in his knee recovery
“I’ve never been stronger.”
More Than Numbers
The physical changes have been incredible.
But they aren’t what Gage talks about most.
When asked what stands out about YSP, he immediately mentions the people.
“The small class sizes and the time the coaches spend making sure you’re doing everything correctly.”
That individual attention helped him rebuild confidence after his injury.
It also reminded him that fitness doesn’t have to be something you do alone.
Confidence Beyond the Gym
Training has changed more than Gage’s body.
He’s gained confidence.
He has more energy at work.
He’s excited for workout days.
Even his golf game has improved because of the mobility, strength, and consistency he’s developed.
“Being in the gym has helped my rehab from my knee injury, and all the stretching and lifting has helped my golf game.”
That’s the kind of progress that impacts everyday life.
Looking Back
One thing Gage wishes he had known sooner?
Nutrition.
“I wish I had known more about how to fuel my workouts with the right foods and enough protein.”
It’s another reminder that real progress comes from having coaches who help you both inside and outside the gym.
His Advice
If someone is nervous about walking into YSP for the first time, Gage keeps it simple.
“There’s no reason to be nervous. The trainers and members are incredibly welcoming, and everyone wants to see you succeed.”
That’s exactly the culture we’ve worked hard to build.
A place where people don’t just become stronger.
They become part of something.
